Before buying a Child Restraint System (CRS), parents should find out about the products available. This year’s essays and those of previous years offer such information. 2021 results can be directly compared to current ratings – all SRIs that have achieved ‘4 and 3 star’ ratings since 2015 they continue to be recommended.
In fact, in 2020 the analysis and assessment procedure of the European report was modified, adjusting it to the current situation, so the results of this study can be compared with those published in 2020, but not directly with the other studies published since 2015.
The RACE draws results from the First European Report on Child Restraint Systems (CRS) of 2022, where the results of the analysis of 32 seat models are revealed.
The tests have generally yielded satisfactory results, one of them reaching the maximum score of ‘5 stars’. Also, 21 have achieved the second best overall score, and six models the third category of the demanding test.

–Security: a good child seat protects the child even in accidents such as those considered in this essay. The accidents simulated in this test are more serious than those foreseen when establishing the legal requirements.
–Easy to use: Various studies have shown that errors often occur in the use of child seats. Good child seats are easy to use and intuitive, which reduces the risk of errors in their use.
–Ergonomics: in a good child seat the child is comfortable and relaxed. In addition, it offers enough space for both tall children and robust children.
–harmful substances: Good child seats comply with the legislation, standards and regulations on harmful substances contained in toys and textile materials.
