Realme seeks to expand its gap within the mid-range with a new economic terminal. The brand has begun to market the Realme 10, successor to the 9, which slightly lowers its benefits, but at the same time it is also somewhat cheaper. The company seeks to offer a good mobile without sacrifices, at a time when the prices of absolutely everything are skyrocketing. Probably the biggest loss is in connectivity, since the Realme 10 will be one of the few phones that in 2023 will still only use 4G. Nothing 5G.
Outside, we find a plastic shell with a good appearance, a gloss finish that could pass perfectly for high-end material. By this we mean that, although the material is what it is, the company has made an effort with a design that appears to be premium.
The power button is also the fingerprint reader, which can be used for unlocking. Although we have given it several opportunities, it has not worked well in any case, better to use facial recognition with the front camera. The two lenses with the flash, which we will talk about later, are discreetly located in the upper left corner of the back. Besides the USB-C portwhich will soon become the European standard for charging, has an audio jack so that headphones can be connected, as is customary in the mid-range.
On the front we find one of the strengths of the Realme 10: a fantastic 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen 90Hz, which has surprised us by how good it looks in all situations and thanks to the high refresh rate with good sensations in movement. The front camera is located under a hole in the screen, and the only negative point to mention is in the small black margin that has remained at the bottom of it.
Actually there is only one camera
The rear cameras, or rather, the rear camera, is the other strong point of this mobile phone thanks to the 50 megapixel ISOCELL JN1 sensor from Samsung. Realme has wanted to put all the meat on the grill in the main camera, being a solid proposal that gives good results.
The other objective is almost testimonial. It is a 2 megapixel macro with a black and white sensor. It is only there so that there is no single goal In the back, basically the only thing that counts is the main camera.
The photo application allows you to activate HDR in auto and artificial intelligence so that the exposure adapts to the scene. Professional mode allows us to save in RAW, but, as usual, not at the full size of 50 megapixels. Night photography gives good results, but always somewhat distorted by the AI ​​in extreme situations, and with some noise.
The 16-megapixel front camera complies, the portrait mode is correct, but it does not stand out. The video, nothing surprising, and it is probably where it falters the most, 1080p at 30 fps, without any type of stabilization.
Great autonomy
Another of the points where Realme has saved on its terminal is in the processor, the MediaTek Helio G99. Everything works perfectly, games and applications. But this SoC already has almost a year of life, and it shows. Even so, it exceeds Realme 9 in speed by 40%, but it is very close to Realme 8.
Although the new mobile does not stand out in terms of power, it does stand out in autonomy, with a battery of 5.000 mah it can work up to 3 days in a row, and few mobiles on the market can boast of something like this. The cable charge is 33W, which means that in 25 minutes we can recover around 50% of the battery, and the full charge is done in less than an hour. We have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage with the possibility of expansion by Micro SD.
The Realme 10 is a good phone for 279 euros, with a price that adjusts to its benefits. But you are in danger of drowning in the extensive offer of the mid-range, full of terminals that move at close prices.
