In the summer of 2022, the company known as Heidelpay was targeted by the financial regulator Bafin. Discussions are now underway about “strengthening and optimizing Unzer’s capital structure”.

NAccording to information from the FAZ, the payment service provider Unzer, whom many know because of a subsidiary – the former Heidelpay – needs new money. Apparently, Unzer failed to meet the business goals (covenats) agreed with investors. Confronted with this information, Unzer and the majority owner KKR said in a joint statement: “Constructive talks are taking place to strengthen and optimize Unzer’s capital structure.”

The spokeswoman for KKR did not want to comment on when exactly decisions could be expected. “The parties involved are very confident of reaching an agreement in the foreseeable future in order to further expand the basis for the company’s successful growth strategy and to take advantage of our numerous opportunities to further expand the strong market position and to promote long-term growth,” it said. Further information from London, that KKR is no longer the owner of Unzer and that the creditors have already taken over ownership control, seems at least premature.
