It’s a little music that comes back regularly like a bad earworm. “Islamism”, “lawless zone”, “foreign enclave”, symbol of the “great replacement”. From Marine Le Pen to Éric Zemmour, from Sébastien Chenu to Jordan Bardella… Seine-Saint-Denis is regularly singled out by far-right elected officials as the source of all the ills that threaten French society.

The last salvo was fired by Sébastien Chenu, vice-president of the National Rally on BFMTV on November 13: “a young Jew risks his life more in an Islamist environment, for example in Seine-Saint-Denis, rather than in a demonstration of National gathering.”
