The Israeli Army bombed Lebanon today in response to the launch, shortly before, of several projectiles from that country, in a new exchange of fire on the border.
“Following initial report of several identified launches from Lebanon towards the Har Dov area, Israel Defense Forces soldiers are targeting the source of the launches“an Israeli military spokesman reported.
This incident marks the seventh consecutive day of hostilities on the border between both countries, in parallel with the war between Israel and the Gaza militias unleashed last Saturday after the Hamas attack on Israeli territory.
This morning, the Israeli military said its troops identified “a terrorist cell that was trying to infiltrate from Lebanon”, before which they opened fire using a drone, and killed “to a certain number of terrorists.”
No militia in Lebanon claimed responsibility for the alleged infiltration attempt or offered information about the dead.
Hours earlier, in the early morning, the Israeli Army attacked targets of the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah in the south of the Arab country in response to “infiltration of unidentified aerial objects” already shots fired at an Israeli drone.
These types of episodes have intensified in recent days, including an exchange of fire yesterday, Friday, in which a Reuters cameraman was killed and six other journalists were injured after Israel responded with artillery and tanks to launches from Lebanon.
The violence on the border since last Sunday has left at least three dead among Israeli troops and many others in the ranks of Hezbollah, in addition to several militiamen from its ally, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, who infiltrated Israel from Lebanon on Monday.
In addition, two of the Israeli attacks have affected facilities of the Lebanese Army, which is not participating in the conflict and which already had a soldier wounded in its ranks in recent days.
The war between Israel and Gaza militias began last Saturday with a surprise attack by Hamas that left more than 1,300 dead in Israel. Since then, there has been a strong exchange of fire that has included the launching of more than 5,000 rockets by the militias and incessant Israeli bombardments on the enclave, where more than 2,200 deaths have already been recorded.
Added to these figures are 1,200 deaths among Hamas militiamen who fell fighting with the security forces in Israeli territory, and more than 150 people captured in Israel and taken to the Strip as hostages.
