“Israel does not believe in peace, there is no real partner”

The Chairman of the Palestinian Authority, Abu Mazen gave a speech this evening (Friday) at the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly during which he attacked Israel and said that “our confidence in achieving a sustainable peace based on justice is eroding.”

In his speech he stated that “Israel destroyed Oslo and seeks to destroy the two-state solution, which proves that it does not believe in peace, but in imposing a fait accompli with aggression. There is no real partner with whom one can talk, and this is what makes the relationship between an occupation and an occupied people. We will not deal with Israel On the basis that it is an occupying country, and we demand that the international community treat it as an occupying country. Israel is conducting a feverish campaign to confiscate our lands, establish settlements on them, and plunder our resources as if they were empty land without owners, as it did in 1948. Israel gives freedom to the terrorist settlers to kill our people , steal their land and water and burn their houses.”

Abu Mazen continued to attack Israel and said that “Israel has allowed the establishment of terrorist groups that attack the Palestinians and call for their deportation. The Rosh Giva youth, the Price Tag groups, the Temple Trustees and more are among these terrorist groups, and they are led by members of the Israeli Knesset. I call on the international community to introduce these terrorist organizations to terrorist lists. Israel has left us nothing on the ground to establish our state.. Where will we establish our independent state and where will our people live? .. We want to live with them in peace. The United Nations, led by its influential powers, protects Israel by adopting Double standards. Israel attacks independent Palestinian human rights organizations in the eyes of the world.”

The Chairman of the Palestinian Authority also added in his speech at the UN Assembly that “Since its establishment, Israel has committed crimes against our people by destroying 524 Palestinian villages and displacing 950,000 Palestinians. Since its establishment in 1948, Israel has carried out more than 50 massacres and acknowledged a number of them. The settlers became to about 750,000.. which is 25% of the total population in the West Bank, and this is the Palestinian land left to us from the partition decision. Israel is killing our people without giving an account, as it did with the journalist Shirin Abu Akla. I challenge America to punish, to give an account or Prosecute the murderers who killed Abu Akila… Why? Because they are Israelis.”

“Israel invades our Islamic sanctities in Jerusalem, our eternal capital. Israel imposes fake curricula and tries to impose it on our students so that they learn the way it wants.. We will not allow this.. That is why it violates international law. Israel disrupts the Palestinian elections and prevents the Jerusalemites from doing so , as it did in the previous elections. We are ready to hold the elections, and we issued decrees, and Israel prevented it from us… Israel is an apartheid regime. Israel violates international law, but it is not punished, and there are those who defend it.” Abu Mazen said.

“The United Nations and its influential people are the ones who protect Israel from punishment… There are double standards that apply when it comes to Israel. Israel did not hesitate recently to close 6 human rights organizations that try to implement the law, and they also work against us if we are wrong… But suddenly Israel considers them organizations Terrorism and storms their offices and wreaks havoc. Israel’s latest massacre, the attack on Gaza with rockets.. (shows a photo of Gaza children published in the New York Times) of 77 children killed by Israel in Gaza. What is required is an apology from our people and bearing legal, political, morally and materially. I call on the international community to hold Israel accountable for the crimes it has committed.” Abu Mazen noted and added, “We appeal to the criminal court and all courts in the world to demand that Israel take responsibility for these massacres. Why do we suffer and remain under occupation? What do we lack for them to occupy us to kill us or loot our goods… the rain that falls on us , are taken and sold to us. We will not accept that we remain the only party that upholds the agreements signed with Israel in 1993 (Oslo). These are agreements that no longer exist on the ground. Israel is taking unilateral actions that contradict the Oslo agreements, and we will not agree to that, for how long Will we remain committed to them alone? Therefore, it has become necessary for us to seek other means to obtain our rights and achieve peace, including the implementation of the decisions made by our national councils and bodies. We make these decisions in order to maintain our rights and our presence in our homeland under the umbrella of the Liberation Organization, the only legitimate representative of our people, which under his leadership includes all our people everywhere. The United Nations issued hundreds of resolutions related to Palestine, and not a single resolution was implemented.. 754 resolutions of the General Assembly, 97 resolutions of the Security Council and 96 of the Human Rights Council… and not one was implemented! We want to implement the decisions related to our acceptance of Our membership in the UN (181-194). We submitted a request to the UN Secretary General to implement these decisions. We will start submitting applications related to joining the UN and international organizations. Starting tomorrow we will complete our steps to join the World Health Organization, intellectual property and international civil aviation. The Security Council has made clear decisions regarding a just and inclusive peace, and we demand their implementation. We want the UN to undertake the His responsibility towards our people and will protect them. We renew our request for full membership in the United Nations. We call on the Secretary-General of the United Nations to work hard to develop an international plan to end the occupation in order to achieve peace and stability in the region, based on the decisions of international legitimacy and the Arab peace initiative.”

At the end, Abu Mazen said in his speech: “Yesterday I listened to the speech of Biden, Lapid and others regarding the two-state solution… and I was satisfied with it… But the real test of the seriousness and credibility of this position is the Israeli government’s sitting at the negotiating table immediately. The Israeli government must stop all unilateral measures- sides that destroy the two-state solution. Negotiations must be held to stop the procedures on the ground.. we are eager for peace.. so we called for peace for future generations and the peoples of the region.. we want peace and we fight terrorism in all countries of the world. We have agreements with 85 countries to fight terrorism, led by America. I am proud to have spent several decades of my life in the struggle with my brothers from the leaders of the Palestinian people, some of whom have died and some of whom are waiting, in order to preserve the rights of our heroic and brave people, who set the most wonderful model of heroism and redemption despite the pressures exerted on us and our people, but we preserved Our national decision is our right. We are committed to our national principles… We renew our refusal to accept any instructions or orders from any party in the world.”

Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, left the General Assembly hall during Palestinian President Abu Mazen’s speech. “Abu Mazen’s speech is disconnected from reality and proves that Abbas’s time is over,” Erdan said.
