Israel enacts a law granting the Interior Ministry the authority to revoke residency from Palestinians and Syrians

An Israeli ministerial committee specialized in legislating laws is preparing to present a draft law granting the Israeli Ministry of the Interior powers to revoke residency from Palestinians residing in Jerusalem and Syrian citizens residing in the Golan. Israeli newspapers reported that the committee seeks to legislate such a law to expel Palestinian citizens from Jerusalem and other Syrians from Al-Jula’a in the event that they carry out what the Israeli newspapers described as operations hostile to Israel or disloyalty to it. According to the Israeli newspapers, the draft law stipulates that the Ministry of the Interior can revoke residency for Palestinian and Syrian citizens due to considerations related to violating loyalty to Israel or participating in actions that Israel considers hostile to it.
