‍ ‌The​ Israeli army spokesman, Daniel Hagari, announced that‌ the⁣ special forces succeeded in freeing two detainees⁣ in‍ Gaza, who are Israelis of Argentine origin, during an air raid launched by ⁤the‍ Israeli army early in the morning⁤ on the city of Rafah in the ⁢southern Gaza Strip. Local officials confirmed that it resulted in ​the killing of about 100⁣ Palestinians.

Hagari explained in ⁣a ⁤video clip circulated by international‌ media that at⁤ 1:49 a.m. ⁢on‌ Monday, ‌Israeli army ‌forces stormed, under fire, ⁤an apartment on the second floor in Rafah, accompanied by air strikes ‌on‌ the surrounding areas.

The operation took ​place‌ under heavy fire‌ from‍ Hamas elements, and the rescue team members protected the two hostages with their bodies, while ‌the battle broke out in several‌ places with Hamas elements.

The Israeli army said that the ⁣two hostages are Fernando ⁢Simon Marman, 60, and Louis Har, 70,​ who spent​ 128 days in captivity, adding ⁢that they are in‍ good health and ⁢were reunited with their families‍ immediately after their release.

On the Palestinian side, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that the operation resulted in the killing​ of ⁤at least 94 Palestinians,​ including women⁣ and children, while the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said that the number was higher and reached 100‍ dead, while the Rafah ⁤Municipality ‍announced​ that ​at least two mosques⁤ and about 10 homes were⁣ bombed and destroyed during ⁤the Israeli operation.

‍ Since the fighting between‌ Hamas and Israel began on October 7, more than 1.3 ⁤million Palestinians‍ have been displaced ⁣from different parts ⁤of Gaza to the ‍city of Rafah, according to the United Nations.
