The Israeli leadership planned to launch large-scale strikes against Iran the night the latter launched missiles and drones towards the Jewish state. The New York Times reported this on Wednesday, citing sources, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.
They said Israeli leaders were “close” to ordering large-scale strikes. That’s why U.S. officials have urged Israel to view its defense as a victory, suggesting that the Jewish state would then not take further escalatory steps.
As the publication points out, Israel postponed the decision on its response after a conversation between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Joe Biden, and then “more delays followed.”
Earlier, the Axios portal reported that Israel considered the possibility of launching a retaliatory strike on Iran on the evening of April 15, but decided to postpone the attack.
