In recent days, the Israeli army has expressed deep concerns over the increasing number of reservists failing to appear for duty in various formations. This development has raised fears of a potential military withdrawal and heightened the apprehension of a military confrontation with Hezbollah in the northern border.

The situation has become particularly severe in the Air Force, where it is estimated that between 30-70% of volunteer pilots are no longer reporting for duty. However, it will take a few weeks to determine the exact percentage of absenteeism. This trend has further complicated preparations in the squadrons.

Even among the elite units, such as the General Staff patrol, preparations are being made to accommodate the non-appearance of reservists. An internal message within the unit expressed the urgency, stating, “The unit is preparing to carry out tasks led by the unit… We need to know who will report to the reserve. Therefore, we will make a round of calls to confirm the arrival. We want to keep the commitments unchanged – we need each and every one of you.”

Earlier today, Defense Minister Yoav Galant visited Mount Dov on the northern border and issued a direct threat to Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah. Galant made it clear that Israel will not hesitate to utilize its full military power and exhaust all efforts to counter Hezbollah’s aggression. This visit follows two recent visits by the Chief of Staff to the northern border and extensive discussions at the cabinet level regarding the threat posed by Hezbollah. These high-level engagements aim to signal to Nasrallah that the Israeli government is prepared to make difficult decisions if necessary.

The IDF spokesperson, Brigadier General Daniel Hagari, acknowledged in an interview with “Shesh Am” this evening that there is damage to both the Air Force and certain border formations in the army. He admitted that the IDF is currently fit for war, but certain formations, especially the Air Force, have suffered significant setbacks.

General Hagari further revealed that the IDF continues to conduct discussions between commanders and volunteers, as emotions run high during this tumultuous time. Each volunteer has their own red line, and the prevailing circumstances are undeniably impacting the IDF’s operations and readiness. The interview with Hagari took place on a day when approximately 800 young men enlisted in the IDF, joining the ranks of Golani and the armor units.

While Israel remains fully prepared for any military confrontation, the challenge of absenteeism among reservists and damage in key formations presents a concern. The IDF is closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary steps to address the issue to ensure the nation’s security.
