Israeli Troops Advance Toward Heart of Gaza City
Israeli troops have advanced toward the heart of Gaza City, as 80,000 residents traveled south on Thursday, marking the largest movement since the humanitarian corridor was opened five days ago.
According to Israeli officials, the military is closing in on the “heart of intelligence and operational activities” of the militant group Hamas in an area of Gaza City near Al-Shifa hospital. The zone is said to be home to a war room for directing fighting, a large training ground, and munitions factories used to make rockets, antitank missiles, drones, and other explosives. The military also noted that kindergartens and mosques are nearby.
The escalation of the conflict comes as tensions continue to rise between Israel and Hamas, with the recent exchange of rocket fire and airstrikes leading to widespread destruction and casualties.
It is a critical time for both sides as the conflict intensifies, with no signs of a ceasefire in sight. The humanitarian situation in Gaza is becoming increasingly dire, with resources and medical facilities stretched to their limits.
