Good news for one of Israel’s greatest athletes. The former athlete, Ester Roth Shahmarov, successfully underwent a kidney transplant at Beilinson Hospital and was discharged home.

71-year-old Ruth Shahmarov, who previously underwent a similar kidney transplant procedure due to a hereditary failure, was hospitalized in recent months after kidney failure, so she was hospitalized, underwent a dialysis procedure, and was looking for a kidney donor.

This week, Ester Roth Shahmarov underwent a kidney transplant in a surgery at Beilinson Hospital. The kidney was successfully absorbed and she was released to her home after recovering.

Ruth Shahmarov, Israel’s prize winner, was the most prominent athlete in history. She won many medals and was a wonderful runner.

She participated in the Olympic Games and her coach, the late Amitsur Shapira, was murdered in Munich in 1972. The Israeli record she set in the 100 meter race held for 46 years.

Ruth Shakhamorov won ten gold medals at the Maccabiah Games, two gold medals at the Asian Athletics Championships and another five gold medals and one silver medal at the Asian Games.
