AGI – In April, both the consumer confidence index (from 100.9 to 102.3) and the composite business confidence index index (from 94.2 to 97.3) are estimated to increase. This was announced by Istat, adding that all components of the consumer confidence index are increasing.
“In April – comments Istat – the climate of business confidence increases for the fifth consecutive month, however the the level reached is still slightly lower than that prior to the health emergency. The increase in the index referred to companies is widespread in all sectors and is more marked for the manufacturing industry and for trade “.
“The consumer confidence index is also on the rise, after the deterioration recorded in March. In this case, growth is driven by expectations both on the country’s economic situation and on the family situation”, he adds.
The economic climate and the personal one went from 90.2 to 91.6 and from 104.5 to 105.9 respectively. The current climate increases from 96.7 to 97.4 and the future climate, which records the most marked increase, rises from 107.1 to 109.6.
As far as businesses are concerned, Istat continues, there is an improvement in confidence in all the sectors observed. In particular, in the manufacturing industry the index rises from 101.9 to 105.4 and in construction from 147.9 to 148.5. In market services the index increased from 85.4 to 87.1 and in retail trade from 91.2 to 95.8.
Nell’manufacturing industry all components of the confidence index improve while in construction we are witnessing a positive evolution only in the opinions on orders. For services, the rise in confidence indices is driven by expectations on orders in market services and those on sales for retail.
All other components are deteriorating. With reference to the distribution circuits of Retail, the improvement in confidence is widespread in both circuits analyzed but with different intensities: in the large distribution the increase is marked (the index rises from 95.8 to 101.2) while in the traditional distribution it is more contained (the index passes from 81.8 to 82.7).
