Bukidnon State University Researchers Recognized for Innovation at RCITE 2025
Researchers from Bukidnon State University (BukSU) have earned meaningful accolades at the Regional Conference in Facts Technology Education (RCITE 2025), held November 20-21, 2025, at Misamis University in Ozamiz City.The awards highlight the growing strength of IT research and growth within the university and across Northern Mindanao.
RCITE serves as a crucial forum for educators and researchers throughout the region to discuss advancements in computing, emerging technologies, and information systems. The conference featured three competitive tracks – computing,AI,Data Science & Emerging Technologies; Information Systems,Applications & ICT Innovation; and a Student Poster Presentation – providing a platform for both faculty and students to present their work.
The BukSU delegation demonstrated exceptional performance, securing multiple Best Paper awards and bolstering the university’s reputation within the regional research community. “the IT Faculty’s participation showed BukSU’s growing capability in producing competitive and impactful research in the region, while the diverse RCITE tracks continue to foster collaboration and innovation among faculty and students alike,” a representative from the IT Department stated.
Faculty Excellence in Computing and Information Systems
BukSU researchers were recognized in both faculty tracks, showcasing the breadth of their expertise. Track 1 – Computing, AI, Data Science & Emerging Technologies saw the following awards:

- 3rd Best Paper: “Mindanao Major Cities Air Quality: A Data-Driven Approach” – Joseph L.Abella (Presenter), Gil Nicholas T. Cagande, and John Lloyd Rojo
Track 2 – Information Systems, Applications & ICT Innovation recognized:
- 2nd Best Paper: “Evaluating Vibe Coding as an AI-Led Conversational Programming Paradigm: Performance, Cognitive Implications, and Responsible adoption” – Dr. Sales G. Aribe Jr. and Louie Jay S. Labastida (Presenter)
- 3rd Best Paper: “When Web Apps Heal Themselves: A MAPE-K Based Approach to Fault Tolerance and Adaptive Recovery” – Dr. Sales G. Aribe Jr. and Rov japheth G. Oracion (Presenter)
