It has been decided that irrigation water will be subsidized by the state with BGN 16 million – Agro Plovdiv

The government approve financing in the amount of BGN 16 million to support farmers to compensate part of the costs for irrigation water.

The funds will be provided after a positive decision by the European Commission on compatibility with state aid rules.

In March, it became clear that the price of irrigation water supplied by the state company “Irrigation Systems” was increased by up to 300%.

Farmers immediately reacted to the news by threatening protests.

Later it became clear that the state would cover 80% of the increase in price, so that the farmers would have as little damage as possible from the higher prices.
