The latter restriction is currently set to remain in effect until 2024. October 1 The amendments to the laws initiated by the Ministry of Culture propose to extend the ban indefinitely and provide that these restrictions will be in effect as long as Russia and Belarus are considered as countries posing a danger and threat to Lithuania in the National Security Strategy.

“It is proposed to continue to apply measures limiting the dissemination of information threatening the national security of Lithuania and protecting the Lithuanian public from disinformation and other manipulations of public information,” the Government’s certificate states.

With the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers, the issue of insurance extension will be raised in the Seimas.

Last September, the parliament extended the ban on rebroadcasting and distributing on the Internet radio and television programs of companies established, directly or indirectly managed, controlled or financed in Russia or Belarus.
