The Italian town of Patrica, located in the center of Italy, just an hour’s drive from Rome, offers historic houses for sale for as little as one euro, but is still unable to find buyers.

The ridiculously priced houses are part of a plan to increase population in the old town, which has been struggling with significant negative immigration for years.

As already mentioned, abandoned properties are offered for just 1 euro to those who are willing to live in them and renovate them.

This is not a one-time or exclusive opportunity. This “trend” is popular in Italy. In recent years, dozens of abandoned properties have been sold for €1, most of them in towns such as Mussomeli in Sicily and Zungoli in Campania. The authorities are attracting foreigners and citizens of the country to make the Italian dream come true and revive historical houses.

Let us remind you that one of the conditions for purchasing real estate at this price is living in it and renovating it.

However, while this campaign has been successful in the other aforementioned cities, the town of Patrick, which currently has about 3,000 residents, has been virtually unable to sell homes despite the low prices.

Thus, according to the New York Post, out of 40 residences offered for 1 euro, only two have so far been sold.

The main reason for this is that Italian law requires the approval of property owners to sell, but many of them left their homes in the early 19th century and their heirs cannot be found.

This makes the process difficult and even almost impossible, and now, according to the mayor, they are trying to find a solution and revive the historical city.
