The UEFA Nations League draw took place in Paris on Thursday night. A total of 16 teams are divided into four leagues. In the second group of ‘League-A’, 2020 Euro champion Italy, 2022 World Cup finalist France and 2018 World Cup semi-finalist Belgium have fallen. The other team in this group is Israel.
In the first group there are Croatia, Portugal, Poland and Scotland. The third group consists of the Netherlands, Hungary, Germany and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the fourth group is Spain, the champions of the last edition of the Nations League. They will compete against Denmark, Switzerland and Serbia.
Meanwhile, in the first group of ‘League-B’ – Chechnya, Ukraine, Albania and Georgia. In the second group are England, Finland, Ireland and Greece. This is the first time England will play in ‘League-B’. They were relegated from the ‘League-A’ last season. Group III: Austria, Norway, Slovenia and Kazakhstan. And in the fourth group – Wales, Iceland, Montenegro and Turkey.
In the first group of ‘League-C’ – Sweden, Azerbaijan, Slovakia and Estonia. Group II – Romania, Kosovo, Cyprus, Lithuania/Gibraltar*. The third group includes – Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Northern Ireland and Belarus. And the fourth group includes – Armenia, Faroe Iceland, North Macedonia and Latvia.
In the first group of ‘League-D’ – Lithuania/Gibraltar*, San Marino, Liechtenstein. And in the second group – Moldova, Malta and Andorra.
This year’s Nations League is hosted by Germany. The game will start in September this year. Which will continue till June 2025. The final round will be held between 4th and 8th June 2025.
This is the first time that the quarter final will be held. The top two teams from Group ‘A’ will advance to the next stage of the competition. The other two teams will be relegated to the next league. And the best two teams of ‘League-B’ will be promoted to ‘League-A’.
Not only that, only the teams that do well in the Nations League will get tickets for the 2026 World Cup. There will be no separate World Cup qualifiers.
