Artists Demand Freedom of Creation at Shahid Minar Rally

August 10, 2024 – A group of artists ‍gathered at‍ Shahid Minar ⁣in Dhaka on⁢ Saturday⁣ to voice‍ their ⁤support for freedom of creation. The event ⁢was organized by several organizations that emerged from ‌the anti-discrimination‌ student movement.

The artists expressed‍ deep concern over the ongoing violence and devastation ‍in the country, stating that they are committed to rebuilding Bangladesh as ​a non-communal and inclusive​ nation. They called ⁣for the establishment​ of a non-violent Bangladesh where all can coexist peacefully.

Speakers at the rally emphasized the ​importance of freedom ‍of creation, arguing that it is essential for a healthy and vibrant society.​ They condemned⁤ attempts to stifle artistic expression and called for the government ‌to ‍uphold the rights of artists.

Among those‌ who spoke at the ⁢rally were‍ photographer Shahidul Alam, who warned against complacency,⁣ saying, “We must resist any attempt to take away our freedom.” Producer Amitabh Reza echoed this ⁤sentiment, urging‌ the public to work together to create a non-discriminatory society. Actress Ajmeri Haque Bandhan emphasized that the⁣ sacrifices made ⁤during ‌the student‍ movement must not be in​ vain.

The rally ⁤was attended⁣ by prominent figures from the music and theater industries, including producer Akram ⁣Khan, actress Zakia Bari​ Mom, and many others.
