‘Jail’ is a film directed by Vasantha Balan and starring GV Prakash, Aparnanithi and Radhika Sarathkumar. The film is produced by Sreedharan Maridasan of Craigs Cine Creations. As the crew was planning to release the film on December 9, a lawsuit was filed in the Chennai High Court on behalf of Studio Green seeking an injunction against its release.
The petition, filed on behalf of Studio Green, stated that Jail had contracted to distribute the entire distribution rights of the film and that it was currently attempting to release the film illegally.
When the case came up for hearing on the 26th of last month, the Chennai High Court had ordered Craigs Cine Creations, the production company of the film, to respond within a week.
Under the circumstances, the case came up for hearing again today. The judge then asked the production team for an explanation and ordered that the release of the jail film not be barred. Producer Sreedharan has said that the movie Jail will be released in theaters on December 9 as planned.
