A Global Streaming Debut
The film, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, features Rajinikanth reprising his role as the retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The plot follows Pandian as he is pulled out of retirement to protect his family from a criminal syndicate with international and political ties. As old enemies return to seek revenge and new alliances are formed, Pandian must rely on his instincts to maintain order and safeguard his loved ones.
Prime Video will offer the film in five languages: Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. The sequel includes a wide ensemble cast, featuring special appearances by Mohanlal, Hrithik Roshan, and Vijay Sethupathi. Additional roles are played by SJ Suryah, Shivarajkumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, Ramya Krishnan, Namo Narayana, and Yogi Babu.
Director’s Perspective on the Sequel
Director Nelson Dilipkumar noted that the production aimed to expand upon the emotional and action-oriented foundation established in the first film.
Reflecting on the return to this story, the director stated that the team wanted to elevate the narrative, action, and emotional stakes to a new level while building on the audience’s connection to the lead character. According to Dilipkumar, the combination of Rajinikanth’s iconic performance, the formidable ensemble cast, and the distinct energy brought by Anirudh’s music made the development of this chapter a particularly exciting endeavor for the production team.

Following the film’s spectacular theatrical response, we’re delighted to bring Jailer 2 to Prime Video, where it will join Jailer, taking both chapters of Muthuvel Pandian’s story to audiences in India and across the world,

The addition of Jailer 2 to the platform marks the continuation of the franchise’s availability, as it joins the original Jailer in the Prime Video catalog. The film arrives on the service following a run at both the Indian and global box offices, promising viewers a high-octane experience characterized by larger-scale spectacle and power-packed performances.
