Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis Boxing Match Canceled Amid Domestic Violence Allegations
The highly anticipated November 14 boxing match between Jake Paul and Gervonta “Tank” Davis has been officially canceled, following a new civil lawsuit alleging domestic violence against Davis. Moast Valuable Promotions (MVP) announced the cancellation Monday night, citing the serious nature of the allegations and the need for a responsible course of action.
The lawsuit, filed in Miami-Dade County in late October, represents the latest in a series of domestic violence accusations leveled against the professional boxer.Details emerged regarding an alleged incident on Father’s Day, where Davis reportedly struck his ex-girlfriend, who is also the mother of his children, during a dispute. While Davis was arrested in July, charges were afterward dropped in August after the alleged victim declined to prosecute. The current lawsuit, however, alleges both battery and kidnapping.
Following the emergence of the new lawsuit, MVP stated they were immediately investigating the situation, and it quickly became apparent that Davis would be removed from the scheduled event. “Our team has worked closely with all parties to navigate this situation responsibly,” said Nakisa bidarian, CEO of Most Valuable Promotions, in a statement released Monday. “While we will not be moving forward with this event, our plan still remains for Jake Paul to headline an event on Netflix in 2025.”
Speculation has already begun regarding potential replacement opponents for Paul. Names circulating include former UFC fighter and previous Paul opponent Nate Diaz, ex-UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, and established boxers Ryan Garcia and Terence Crawford.
MVP assured fans that Paul will still fulfill his commitment to headline a Netflix boxing event before the end of 2025. Bidarian added, “Details regarding a new date, location, Jake’s opponent, and additional bouts will be shared as soon as they are finalized. We thank Netflix, the Kaseya Center, and the Seminole hard Rock Hotel & Casino for their partnership.”
The cancellation underscores the growing scrutiny surrounding athletes facing allegations of domestic violence and the increasing pressure on sports organizations to prioritize safety and accountability. While the future of Paul’s next bout remains uncertain, MVP’s commitment to a 2025 netflix event signals a continued push to elevate the profile of boxing and entertainment crossover events.
