Former Member of Parliament for Tangail-5 (Sadar) Constituency and Jatiya Party Presidium Member Industrialist Abul Kashem has passed away (Innalillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). He went to Tangail General Hospital on Friday (March 15) afternoon and was declared dead by the doctor on duty. He was 82 years old at the time of his death. The deceased is survived by two wives and four children.

Shah Alam Fakir, former joint secretary of Tangail district Jatiya Party, confirmed the death of Abul Kashem.

Relatives said that Abul Kashem was ill for some time. Yesterday he came from Dhaka to his residence in Alalpur village of Delduar upazila of Tangail. Today Friday afternoon, before the Friday prayer, he became more ill. He started to have shortness of breath. He was rushed to Tangail 250-bed General Hospital. The doctor on duty there declared Abul Kashem dead.

They also said that almost all the family members of Abul Kashem live outside the country. He will be buried in the family cemetery after the funeral at the Abul Kashem Kalyan Trust Mosque premises after talking to the boys.

Incidentally, in the elections held in 2008, Abul Kashem was elected as a member of Parliament as a candidate of the Grand Alliance. He lost the post of MP in 2012 due to the court verdict on the complaint of telephone bill khelafi. In the 2014 election, the party nominated Abdus Salam Chakladar, the then president of the district Jatiya Party. At that time, he withdrew his nomination papers and abstained from the election. Abul Kashem took part in the 12th National Assembly elections from Tangail-6 (Nagarpur-Delduar) constituency with the party symbol. He lost to the present Minister of State for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu.
