Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga declared an emergency in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Hyogo and mentioned that the increase in infections is due to new variants of the virus.
In this new state of exception, businesses that sell alcohol, department stores and some shopping centers must close. The feeling that this new variant gives us is one of crisis, the prime minister declared prior to the new measures.
The Japanese media will condition the Golden Week holidays that take place at the beginning of May, an event where Japanese people take the opportunity to travel and be accompanied by the suspension of certain train connections and some bus lines to limit mobility. (01)
