“Nudity is not a big issue for me,” says Emily Cox to BILD. “I grew up very free, very informal. As a child, I often went to naturist campsites.”

Casual is probably also an apt description of Alma Mahler (1879–1964). The Viennese woman was not only the wife of the composer Gustav Mahler (1860-1911), but also the lover of other cultural figures such as Walter Gropius and Oskar Kokoschka (1886-1980), icons of Viennese modernism.
The fierce love with him has now been filmed for the cinema: Emily Cox plays the artist muse in “Alma & Oskar”. “It was unusual for Alma Mahler to have slept with so many men at the time,” says Cox. “Also for showing so openly that she liked sex.”

The portrayal of this was not a problem for Emily Cox. “Nothing really happens in sex scenes,” explains the actress. “You make certain movements and you’re naked. Crying in front of the camera is much more intimate because the tears are real.”
Emily Cox grew up as an only child in Vienna. Cox celebrated her international breakthrough as a dark anti-heroine in the Viking series “The Last Kingdom”, in Germany she became a star with Ulmen’s “Jerks”.
From August 4th, Cox can also be seen as the main actress in the ARD series “37 seconds”.
