American Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez defeated Britain’s Sunny Edwards by retirement on Saturday to add the IBF flyweight title to the WBO belt he already held, at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

Both men appeared undefeated as professionals, but Rodriguez quickly took the upper hand and manhandled Edwards, who he finally sent to the mat with a huge left to the chin in the 9th round. The Briton, face down, managed to get up, but his corner asked the referee to stop the fight.

Rodriguez now has 19 victories in as many fights, including 12 by knockout. Edwards had so far fought 20 victorious fights, including four successes before the limit. Rodriguez won the vacant WBO title in April against Mexican Cristian Gonzalez Hernandez. Previously, he had boxed in the top super-flyweight category and won the WBC title there, which he defended twice.
