‘If she had not run away from home, she would have been someone’s wife’
Manisha, who took the big step of leaving home at the age of just 16, says, ‘Since childhood, I had the urge to go out and become something. We would not be able to live here (Bihar), because we were from a middle class family. Papa worked in courier service. The income was not that much. So, there were only two ways… either study or get married and settle down. Whereas, we did not have to live such a normal life. So we ran away to Kolkata. Saw very difficult times there. Worked as a background dancer, sometimes also worked as a waiter. But, my thinking was that whatever happens, we should not look back. Don’t give up. So we persisted.

‘We used to get the work done, we used to kill the money’
Manisha Rani is known for her vivacity and cheerful style. Manisha said, ‘I have always had this fun-loving style. I have always seen the struggle. He faced so many difficulties in Kolkata that he used to cry a lot and even cursed God as to why he got such a life. There people used to work for Rs 500 per day, even after getting the work done, people used to pay the money. The rent for the place where we lived was Rs 1400. Couldn’t even tell anyone about your problems. One had come back after fighting with his family members. If you told them the truth, they would directly say, come back, why are you worried about something which is not within your control.

Life changed due to Tik Tok videos
Manisha’s life changed when her Tik Tok videos started going viral. According to Manisha, ‘Initially I used to make videos on the template of Tik Tok. Later she started making it in her own voice. Within a year my videos started going viral. However, even then I have heard a lot of taunts from my relatives etc. Parents also had to hear things that they would make the girl do all these things, make her dance. I don’t like remembering all that now. My only goal is that where I have reached today, I have reached because of the love of my fans. Be it social media or Bollywood, I have to entertain them.
