British Prime Minister Boris Johnson believes that the country and the EU can reach an agreement on the Brexit trade deal by October 15, otherwise the agreement will not be signed.

“If we can’t come to an agreement by then, I don’t think there will be a free trade agreement between us, and we have to accept that and move forward,” Johnson said in a statement released by his office.

According to the Prime Minister, if no agreement is reached on the deal, the UK’s trade relationship with the EU will continue in accordance with the type of agreement between the EU and Australia.

“We will have full control over our own laws and regulations and our fishing waters,” he noted.

At the same time, Britain does not refuse to continue the discussion of cooperation with the EU even after the failure of the negotiations.

“Our doors will never be closed, and we will trade as friends and partners, but without a free trade agreement,” the prime minister explained.

The post-Brexit transition period for the UK began on 31 January 2020 and will continue until 31 December 2020.
