Ankara: Journalist Seif Kabas has been arrested for insulting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Seif, who was arrested on Saturday morning, was produced in court. He is one of the leading television personalities in the country.
On Saturday night, Sedef presented a program in which he slammed Urdugan. The video of the event was later shared on Twitter. Sedef has more than nine million followers on Twitter. Within hours of posting the video, police arrived at Sedef’s home.
They were arrested around 2 am and taken away. Under Turkish law, insulting the president is punishable by up to one to four years in prison.
