After the oath ceremony of the newly elected committee of the Bangladesh Film Artists Association, it was alleged that the junior artists were beating up the journalists. 9-10 journalists were injured in this incident. They have been taken to Dhaka Medical College (Dhamek) Hospital.
The attack took place around 6:30 pm on Tuesday (April 23) after the swearing-in and prayer ceremony of Misha-Dipzal. The situation there is hot now. Police have been deployed to control the situation.
The newspaper’s entertainment journalist Mithun Al Mamun was injured in the attack. He said, ‘I was interviewing an artist. At that time Khal actor Shiva Shanu asked me why I am doing the interview. At that time he attacked me. He started beating. At that time, when the camera person of News 24 came forward, cinematographer Joy Chowdhury ordered to beat up the junior artists with obscene abuse.
Mithun also said, ‘Junior artistes beat up journalists on the orders of Jai. Chairs were uprooted and cameras vandalized. Our camera person received 7 stitches on his head. Several people from Banglavision and other media were injured.
In this regard, Joy Chowdhury said, ‘If anyone can say that I touched someone or scolded them or can show me any footage; I leave my judgment to you. When some people were coming to beat the walls of the association and kill Shanu Bhai, I became uncontrollably excited. But they are not journalists I know.’
