The annual meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) is held in Colombo at the end of July. Where many important issues including the Champions Trophy will be resolved. This meeting does not have the agenda of who will be the next chairman of ICC. However, there is a strong discussion going on in the ICC right now, BCCI secretary Jay Shah can become the boss of world cricket.

If Jai Shah takes charge of the ICC in November, he will be the youngest ICC chairman. Jai Shah is getting at least three months to take this decision. The ICC meeting will be held in Colombo from July 19 to 22. After that, the ICC chairman will be elected at the next meeting in November. Greg Barclay has been serving as the ICC Chairman for the last four years. New Zealand’s Barkley has got the support of the BCCI secretary. If desired, Barclay can extend his responsibilities for one more term if Jai Shah so wishes.

Since he was elected unopposed, he will have to look at the decisions of the rest as well. Jai Shah is likely to win unanimously if he contests the post. If he wants to sit in this position, he will also have to leave the responsibility of BCCI. However, whether Jai Shah will leave Mumbai and work in Dubai is a big question.

Meanwhile, the term of the ICC chairman has been revised. Changed from existing three terms to two terms of three years. That means, Jai Shah will complete his 3-year term as ICC Chairman if elected to the post. After that, as per the BCCI constitution, he will be eligible to become the BCCI president in 2028.
