Armed subjects took the lives of Julian Bautistaformer mayor of Amatenango del Vallewho aspired to be a candidate for AT to govern said municipality again.
This event occurred on the morning of this April 9th in the vicinity of El Carmelito cruise which is located between the municipalities of Teopisca, Villa Las Rosas y Comitan, this in the state of Chiapas.
According to local media, Bautista Gómez was inside his vehicle – which was parked – and was starting to go to work.

However, armed individuals on a motorcycle arrived at the site and opened fire on the former mayor of Chiapas.
The attack also affected a female merchant who was injured, but received medical attention when the emergency services and paramedics arrived, who in turn confirmed the death of Julián Bautista.
Julián Bautista Gómez governed the municipality of Amatenango del Valle del 2018 y 2021 after winning the elections for Institutional Revolutionary Party (AT).
However, Julián aspired to be, once again, the mayor of the city council, once again championing the PRI.
Amatenango del Valle is currently governed by Juan Carlos Bautista (Julián’s brother) and Gómez was looking to become mayor again.

Regarding the murder of Julián Bautista, the security authorities of the city council and the state of Chiapas have not commented on the matter.
His brother and current municipal president of Amatenango del Valle has also not commented on the death of the former mayor.
