Julien Bayou: the environmental group in the Assembly notes the end of its withdrawal

by time news

Julien Bayou had made a return to the National Assembly in October. But he still remained discreet. According to our information, this Tuesday, February 7 in the morning, the deputies of the environmental group have recorded the end of its withdrawal internally. Accused by an ex-partner of psychological violence, he withdrew from the co-presidency of the group in September. A little later, he had resigned from his position as boss of EELV.

Since then, months have passed, and no legal action has been taken. The EELV cell dedicated to gender-based and sexual violence, for its part, “decided to close the file” last week, for lack of having been able “to carry out its investigation”. “The initial hearing (from ex-girlfriend)starting point of the investigation, could not take place “and” no one else entered the cell about Julien Bayou “, justified EELV in a press release.

It is in this context that the question of his full return to the work of the parliamentary group was discussed on Tuesday morning. “The president of the group, Cyrielle Chatelain, asked the question to the deputies: Do we record the end of the withdrawal? And no one formally opposed it,” said one participant. “I look forward to fully resuming the exercise of my mandate and to fully engage in the battle against pension reform” rejoices Julien Bayou with the Parisian.

“We couldn’t leave him in limbo, in purgatory until 2027!

“He didn’t have much parliamentary office lately, his speaking was limited. From now on, internally, he can again apply for everything. Until now, he was sidelined, ”explains a green MP. “There was a bit of a debate on this end of withdrawal, comments from certain deputies, which I find it difficult to understand”, annoys the same, annoyed that a charter on the fight against violence sexist and sexual practices has not yet been put in place. And to defend the former boss of the Greens: “We could not leave him in limbo, in purgatory until 2027! There’s nothing ethically to say he’s an abuser. »

A few hours before this decision, the Green MP Sandrine Rousseau, who had relayed the accusations against Julien Bayou on a TV set, said on BFMTV that she refused to declare Bayou innocent: « I won’t comment on that since there was no investigation. Without investigation, nothing can be said.. » Tuesday morning, she agreed to the group’s decision.
