jpnn.com – PARIS – Yaroslava Mahuchikh, the 22-year-old Ukrainian girl, won gold in the high jump at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In the final at the Stade de France, Monday (5/8) early morning WIB, Yaroslava made a two-meter jump on her first attempt.

Australian athlete Nicola Olyslagers also made a two-meter jump, but only succeeded on her third attempt.

When both athletes tested the 2.02 meter height, both failed, but Yaroslava earned the gold due to her smooth previous jump.

Yaroslava deserved to win gold, even though she did not break her world record of 2.10 meters.

“This is a beautiful night for war-torn Ukraine, to be happy for a moment,” read a commentary on AP News.

Iryna Gerashchenko, also from Ukraine, took bronze in the event.

The gold medal from the women’s high jump at the 2024 Paris Olympics ensures that Ukrainians can forget about the war, if only for one night.
