Textiles and Jute Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak said that the Jute Council will be formed to develop the jute industry and solve the problems. Many problems can be solved by forming jute council.

He said these things while addressing the Chief Guest at the 40th Annual General Meeting of Bangladesh Jute Mills Association (BJMA) at the Samson H Chowdhury Center of Dhaka Club on Wednesday (April 24).

The textile and jute minister said, in the DC conference last month, I instructed the district administrators to stop plastic bags and use jute bags after the month of Ramadan. We have already arranged a fund of Rs 100 crore for manufacturing jute products as an alternative to plastic and further investment in this sector will be ensured.

Nanak said, I am a messenger of the Prime Minister. I will pass your message on to him. The Prime Minister himself has repeatedly said that the jute and leather industry should be promoted and made as important as the garment industry.

The jute minister also said that once the bulk of the country’s export income came from jute. Bangabandhu wanted the development of jute and the people associated with jute, he created the Ministry of Jute for the development of jute. And Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken various steps for the development of jute. The present government is continuing its efforts for the development of jute.
