Malaysian Duo Secures Spot in Syed Modi International Men’s Doubles Final

Malaysia is guaranteed to take home the men’s doubles title at the Syed Modi International badminton tournament after Kang Khai Xing and Aaron Tai advanced to the final on Saturday, November 29th. The world junior champions defeated Russia’s Rodion Alimov and Maksim Ogloblin 21-15, 22-20 in a hard-fought semi-final match held in Lucknow.

All-Malaysian Showdown Looms

Khai Xing and Tai will now face fellow Malaysians Chia Weijie and Lwi Sheng Hao, who also secured their place in the final. This sets the stage for an all-Malaysian clash for the championship. The two pairs have previously met, with Khai Xing and Tai emerging victorious at last month’s Malaysian Super 100, winning with scores of 21-18 and 21-7.

Women’s Doubles Hopes Dashed

Unfortunately, Malaysia’s campaign in the women’s doubles came to an end with the defeat of Ong Xin Yee and Carmen Ting. The pair lost to top-seeded Indian duo Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand in straight sets, 11-21, 15-21.

Other Tournament Results

Several other matches concluded in the semi-finals on Saturday. In women’s singles, Hina Akechi of Japan defeated Tanvi Sharma of India 21-17, 21-16, while Neslihan Arin of Turkey overcame Unnati Hooda of India 21-15, 21-10. The women’s doubles also saw success for Japan, with Kaho Osawa and Mai Tanabe besting Hsu Ya-ching and Sung Yu-hsuan of Chinese Taipei 21-15, 21-19. In mixed doubles, the Indonesian pair of Perdinan Deer Anndicine Anndan triumphed over Warm Jolloran and Treeses Jolleases of India 21-17, 21-19, and Pakkaratak-Sapsilire of Thailand defeated Marwan Faza and Aisyah of Indonesia 21-10, 21-1.

The Syed Modi International continues to showcase exciting competition as players vie for top honors in Lucknow. The final between Khai Xing-Tai and Weijie-Sheng Hao promises to be a thrilling culmination of Malaysian badminton talent.
