Hollywood, California – December 27, 2024 – Kanye West surprised attendees at a Deon Cole comedy show Wednesday night, briefly taking the stage at the Hollywood Improv to announce that a new album is on the way.

Fans Anticipate New Music From Ye

The artist confirmed the forthcoming project during an impromptu appearance at a comedy performance, adding to a recent string of unannounced sets.

  • West appeared onstage during comedian Deon Cole’s set at the Hollywood Improv.
  • He confirmed the creation of a new album, prompting cheers from the audience.
  • This follows a recent unannounced performance alongside Travis Scott in Japan.
  • Ye is also slated to headline the Hellwatt Festival in Italy in 2026.

The unexpected cameo occurred during Deon Cole’s performance, with West briefly joining the comedian onstage. Cole shared footage of the moment on Instagram, writing, “About last night. What a great time. Laughter & love wins again. Hollywood improv.”

In the clip, Cole playfully acknowledged West’s typically reserved reactions, asking, “You weren’t giving me no sympathy laughs, right?” West responded with a grin as the crowd reacted. The conversation then turned to new music, with Cole inquiring about potential releases.

“You got anything we could look out for?” Cole asked. “No music, no shirts or sweaters or some boots?” West’s succinct response – “New album” – ignited cheers throughout the venue.

Cole jokingly requested an interlude on the upcoming project and a clothing care package, both of which West agreed to before exiting the stage.

What is Kanye West working on? The artist confirmed he is currently developing a new album, following a period of relative quiet regarding new musical releases.

This appearance follows a similar unannounced set in November, when West joined Travis Scott’s Circus Maximus show in Japan on November 8 at the Belluna Dome in Tokorozawa. Footage showed West, initially masked, revealing his face to applause before performing his 2007 hit, “Can’t Tell Me Nothing.”

Scott supported West throughout the mini-set, which included performances of “Runaway,” “Heartless,” “Flashing Lights,” “Stronger,” and “All of the Lights” in front of a packed Tokyo audience.

Looking ahead, West is also scheduled to headline the inaugural Hellwatt Festival in Italy, taking place at the RCF Arena over three weekends, from July 4-18, 2026. The festival will be officially presented in late January or early February 2026.

The announcement of West’s Italian performance comes nearly two years after discussions surrounding a live presentation of Vultures, his Billboard 200-topping collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign. While a full concert didn’t materialize, a listening party was held at the Unipol Forum in Milan and the Unipol Arena in Bologna in February 2024.
