Interview Between Time.news Editor and Land Registry Expert
Time.news Editor (TNE): Thank you for joining us today. The recent launch of operations at the Katerina branch of the Hellenic Land Registry is groundbreaking. Can you start by sharing the significance of this event?
Land Registry Expert (LRE): Thank you for having me. The opening of the Katerina branch marks an important step in the modernization of the Hellenic Land Registry. It’s part of a broader initiative to unify and digitize land registry services across the country, which facilitates smoother transactions for citizens and professionals alike.
TNE: That sounds incredibly beneficial! Could you explain what changes citizens in the Katerini area can expect now that the Katerina branch is operational?
LRE: Absolutely! With the Katerina branch now included in the Hellenic Land Registry, citizens and professionals can expect several enhancements. The office will accept multi-year arrears related to the Mortgage Registry, which means individuals can resolve outstanding issues more efficiently. We’re also keen on implementing digital tools that streamline the registration processes.
TNE: Digitization seems vital. Can you elaborate on how these digital tools will affect daily operations and client interactions?
LRE: Certainly! Our aim is to shift many traditional paper-based processes to online platforms. In the near future, we will begin digitizing the mortgage registry files, which will enable remote research. This means fewer trips to the office for users and a more transparent, accessible service.
TNE: That’s quite a change from the previous system. With 16 out of 17 Land Registry Offices and 72 out of 75 Branches now operational, what’s next on the agenda for the Hellenic Land Registry?
LRE: We are working diligently to finalize the structure and ensure consistency across all branches. Our goal is to modernize the entire operation, making it seamless for users. We plan to continue enhancing electronic services so that a wider range of transactions can be conducted digitally.
TNE: It sounds like there are exciting developments ahead! How do you aim to address the backlog of cases that many citizens have?
LRE: We recognize that closing outstanding cases is crucial. With the introduction of remote services and our commitment to digitization, we believe we can tackle these backlogs efficiently. Additionally, our human resources will be allocated to prioritize these outstanding cases as we enhance our digital capabilities.
TNE: For our readers who may be hesitant about using online services, what assurances can you offer regarding security and accessibility?
LRE: That’s a valid concern. The Hellenic Land Registry is committed to implementing robust security measures for all our digital platforms. Access to services will be user-friendly and designed to cater to a wide audience, ensuring that everyone feels comfortable using them.
