KATSEYE Makes Triumphant MTV VMAs Debut, Securing First Award and Showcasing Global Appeal
KATSEYE, the rising global pop sensation formed through a partnership between HYBE and Geffen Records, made a significant splash at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards on September 8th. The group’s debut performance included two pre-show appearances and culminated in their first-ever VMA win for “Touch,” awarded the MTV Push Performance of the Year for 2024.
The group launched their VMA journey with a performance of “Gnarly,” a track previously lauded by NME as one of the Songs of the Summer. Following the energetic opening, KATSEYE returned to the pre-show stage with a rendition of “Gabriela,” a song notable for its exploration of the group members’ diverse heritages. Notably, Daniela delivered a verse in Spanish, marking a first for the group and demonstrating a commitment to cultural representation.
Their success continued during the main award show, where they were recognized for their work on “Touch.” Upon receiving the award, Lara expressed the group’s gratitude, stating, “This is so crazy. Thank you all so much, this is all very new to us. This is our first time ever doing this. We’ve been through a lot together so having this moment feels so rewarding and everything has paid off.” Sophia added, “Thank you to our EYEKONS, we are here because of you. We love you so, so much. Thank you for believing in us.”

BLACKPINK were crowned Best Group, and Lisa’s collaboration with Doja Cat and RAYE on “Born Again” secured the Best K-pop award. A touching tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne was delivered by Yungblud alongside Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry.
