Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan will create a joint investment fund.

As Day.Az reports on Tuesday with reference to Trend, Kazakh Transport Minister Marat Karabayev said this during the 20th meeting of the Kazakh-Azerbaijani Intergovernmental Commission in Astana.

“In the future, important infrastructure projects are planned that can be financed by the Kazakh-Azerbaijani investment fund being created between Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund JSC and the Azerbaijani investment holding. One of the objectives of this investment fund will be the development of the port infrastructure of our countries,” the minister said.

In general, during the meeting of the commission, issues in the field of trade, transport, energy, digitalization, industry, agriculture, education, culture and tourism were discussed.

It should be noted that the volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan in 2023 amounted to 529.4 million US dollars, according to Kazakh statistics. Compared to the same period in 2022 ($463.3 million), the volume of trade turnover increased by 14.2 percent.

At the same time, in the structure of trade turnover, exports to Azerbaijan during this period amounted to $456.3 million, which is 21.6 percent more than in January-December 2022.

In addition, imports from Azerbaijan from January to December 2023 decreased by 17.3 percent and amounted to $73 million. In 2022, imports amounted to $88.3 million.
