Kehlani is gearing up to drop a new album this spring, and it’s shaping up to be a collaborative masterpiece. The artist, who uses she/they pronouns, revealed on Wednesday (Jan. 7) that the upcoming project will boast more featured artists than they’ve “probably ever had.”
“I have way more collaborations than I’ve probably ever had, and they’re all people that I really, really respect,” Kehlani told a publication during a recent interview. “And I think the coolest thing about it is, there’s no features that feel like, ‘Oh, a label threw this together,’ or ‘Two people were popping right now, so we just threw it together.’ It was all super organic.”
“Everybody’s just loving the music that’s being made,” they added. “I have people that I adore and look up to on this, so I’m really excited about it.” Usher and Brandy have already been confirmed as collaborators, adding to the anticipation.
Last month, the “Out The Window” singer shared with another publication that she’d also been working in the studio with Tank, Ne-Yo, Jermaine Dupri, and Bryan-Michael Cox. While it remains to be seen which of these sessions will make the final cut, the potential is undeniably exciting.
A Producer with a Proven Track Record
Khris Riddick-Tynes, the producer behind Kehlani’s hit “Folded,” is executive producing the full-length effort, ensuring a cohesive and high-quality sound.
Kehlani also shared that the album is “almost finished,” suggesting that fans won’t have to wait much longer for a tracklist and artwork reveal.
What makes this album different from Kehlani’s previous work? The sheer number of carefully selected collaborations, all born from genuine artistic connection, sets this project apart.
“Folded” is nominated for two awards at the 2026 Grammy Awards, further cementing Kehlani’s status as a rising star in the R&B world.
Grammy Recognition for “Folded”
Next month, “Folded” will compete for Best R&B Song against Summer Walker’s “Heart Of A Woman,” Chris Brown’s “It Depends,” Durand Bernarr’s “Overqualified,” and Leon Thomas’ “YES IT IS” at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
For Best R&B Performance, Kehlani will go head-to-head with Walker and Brown again, alongside Justin Bieber’s “YUKON” and Thomas’ “MUTT (Live From NPR’s Tiny Desk).” The winners will be announced on Feb. 1 during a live broadcast of the ceremony from Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena.
