Kochi: Kerala Blasters coach Ivan Vukomanovic is back in Kochi. The fans gave a grand welcome to the coach who arrived at Kochi, Nedumbassery airport at nine o’clock in the morning. Fans welcomed Ivan with yellow flowers and garlands. Joining in the excitement of the fans, Evan was also a part of the chants with the fans. After posing for selfies, Evan went to the hotel.
Blasters (Manjappada) preseason matches will be held in UAE. Most of the players of Blasters will reach Kochi today and tomorrow. The players will start training in Kochi soon. Earlier, Kerala Blasters extended the contract of playmaker Adrian Luna. Luna will remain with the Yellow Army till 2024. Uruguayan player Adrian Luna is a crucial player in Blasters’ progress last season with six goals and seven assists. The Blasters have newly acquired Ukrainian youth player Ivan Kaliushny, Spanish defender Victor Mongil and Greek Australian striker Apostolos Gianou.
The Blasters will begin training soon for the ISL season, which begins on October 6. Coach Vukomanovic had earlier indicated that the Blasters’ preparatory matches will be held in Europe. Friendly matches are also possible at the Kochi Stadium.
Notably, the upcoming ISL season will see the matches revert to the home and away format. Kochi will be the venue for Blasters’ 10 home matches, including the inaugural match. Kerala Blasters will face ATK Mohun Bagan in the first match on October 6. This season’s matches will last for nine months.
