Thiruvananthapuram: The battle between the state government and the governor (Governor Arif Mohammad Khan) is intensifying as the assembly session begins. Minister K Radhakrishnan came out with a scathing critique of the Governor. The minister said those who have a constitutional obligation should be prepared to do so. The minister’s criticism is that it is not the right way for a person in a constitutional position to do so. Minister Radhakrishnan explained that the issue raised by the Governor will be discussed further.
The governor’s refusal to sign the policy declaration speech yesterday had caused great uncertainty.
Finally, the government reached a compromise by removing Jyotilal, the state public administration secretary, who had criticized the governor. Arif Mohammad Khan was provoked by a letter from Jyotilal regarding the appointment of Hari S Karta to the post of Additional PA to the Governor. The letter contained a disagreement over the appointment of people with obvious political affiliations to the palace. After approving the appointment recommendation of the ADPA, the governor openly said that the publication of the letter given by the government to his office was a personal insult.
