Santa Barbara, California – Kevin Costner, the 68-year-old Yellowstone star, was seen in public for the first time since his recent court victory in a bitter child support battle with his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner. Costner and his youngest son, Hayes, were spotted enjoying a relaxed breakfast together in Santa Barbara on Saturday.

Costner appeared at ease, wearing a long sleeve blue shirt with a zip front, faded jeans, and white sneakers. His blonde hair blew gently in the breeze, and he shielded his eyes with dark sunglasses. Hayes, 14, dressed casually in a graphic white T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers, accompanied his father.

The actor shares three children – Cayden, 16, Hayes, and Grace, 13 – with Baumgartner, a former handbag designer. The couple divorced in May after 18 years of marriage, and the child support battle ensued.

Baumgartner had initially requested $250,000 per month for child support. However, on Friday, a judge in Santa Barbara granted her $63,000 a month, significantly lower than her initial demand. Costner had been making monthly payments of $129,000 before the court ruling.

During the hearing, Baumgartner argued that she wanted her children to maintain a similar lifestyle to what they were accustomed to when they were with her. As a stay-at-home mom since 2004, she claimed to have no income of her own.

In addition to the child support battle, the court also discussed Costner’s contentious exit from the popular TV series Yellowstone. The actor claimed that the two-part shooting schedule for season five hindered his plans to work on his own western epic film, Horizon. Costner testified that he turned down a $24 million offer to appear in seasons six and seven of Yellowstone.

Following the court ruling, Costner expressed that there were “no winners” in the lengthy legal battle. However, he praised Baumgartner as an “incredible mom” and pledged to find a way to work things out amicably.

As the actor and his son left the restaurant, Costner drove off in a gleaming silver BMW. While the court battle may have presented challenges for the family, both Costner and Baumgartner seemed determined to prioritize their children’s well-being.
