Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo has been relieved of his duties, head coach Nick Sirianni announced Tuesday.
The decision comes after the Eagles’ first-round playoff exit on Sunday, a 23-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The team had hoped to return to the Super Bowl for a second consecutive year.
Philadelphia previously lost offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, who accepted the head coaching position with the New Orleans Saints. Patullo was brought in to maintain some continuity for quarterback Jalen Hurts, running back Saquon Barkley, and wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
Patullo had been overseeing the Eagles’ passing attack since 2021, but the results didn’t meet expectations. This season, Philadelphia averaged 22.3 points per game, finishing 19th in the NFL in scoring offense.
“I met with Kevin today to tell him about a difficult decision,” Sirianni said in a statement released Tuesday. “He is an excellent coach, to whom I have the greatest respect. He has played a leading role in our successes over the past five years – not only on the field but also behind the scenes, as a leader. I am sure he will continue to have success as a coach.”
The Eagles will now be searching for their fifth offensive coordinator in six seasons. Shane Steichen led the offense in 2021 and 2022, followed by Brian Johnson in 2023, then Moore and Patullo.
