President Vahagn Khachaturyan, who is in Hungary on an official visit, had a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, the president’s office reports.
The message states:
“Greeting the president, the Prime Minister of Hungary noted. “Mr. President, I thank you for your visit to Hungary. I know that yesterday you had a very productive meeting and conversation with the president of our country. These meetings are important at the current stage of our countries’ relations. I also hope that they will positively affect the development of economic cooperation.”
President Vahagn Khachaturyan thanked for the warm reception and words of appreciation. “Mr. Prime Minister, we have overcome difficult times and now we are ready to make efforts towards the development of relations between our countries, also taking into account the fact that Hungary will take over the presidency of the European Union in the near future. I hope that we will have effective cooperation in the European Union and other international platforms,” the president said.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of promotion of sectoral cooperation between Armenia and Hungary and full implementation of existing potential. Reference was made to the possibilities of expanding cooperation in the economy, education, culture and other fields.
The interlocutors discussed regional and global security issues. The President reaffirmed Armenia’s principled position of achieving stable and lasting peace and forming neighborly relations with its neighbors.
Thoughts were also exchanged on the protection of Christian and cultural heritage in the region. The parties both emphasized the deepening of the effective partnership between Armenia and the EU, emphasized the importance of continuing further steps towards the protection of democracy and democratic values.
The President of Armenia and the Prime Minister of Hungary emphasized that one of the important keys to the further development of relations is the cooperation between the business circles of the two countries and the investment of efforts to establish new ties.
