On the occasion of the second anniversary of the assassination of Iranian Chief of Staff Qassem Suleimani at the end of the Trump administration, Supreme Leader Khamenei launches a threat against the former president and his accomplices in carrying out the assassination

Iranian Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has issued a threat to former US President Donald Trump and others over their role in the assassination of Revolutionary Guards chief Qassem Suleimani in January 2020. Khamenei said they would “pay for their crimes.”

Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said that “the general of the Revolutionary Guards will remain in history as a martyred saint while his murderers will be forgotten.” During a meeting with Suleimani’s family and Suleimani’s close collaborators on the second anniversary of his assassination, Khamenei described him as a “martyred saint” and a symbol of “resistance” in the area, emphasizing, “The Suleimani martyr is more dangerous to his enemies than Commander Suleimani.”

Khamenei said, “Trump and others like him will be forgotten and lost in the dustbin of history, of course after paying for their crimes in the world.”

Iran is preparing to hold ceremonies on the occasion of the second anniversary of Suleimani’s assassination, events that will last for ten days, to mark Suleimani’s “martyrdom.” As you may recall, he was eliminated from a U.S. drone strike on January 3, 2020, when he arrived in Baghdad.

Suleimani played a key role in Syria’s civil war as a coordinator of Iran’s military involvement, including sending tens of thousands of regular and irregular forces to fight rebels who fought against Assad.

Iranian officials have previously threatened retaliation against U.S. and Israeli officials who, according to foreign reports, were involved in the planning, shortly after his death in January 2020, Khamenei said those responsible for carrying out the killing should pay for their actions.
