A new documentary, “Kid Racers,” will offer an unprecedented look into the world of youth motorsports, premiering Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m. ET, exclusively on The NASCAR channel. The film promises to capture the raw energy and dedication of the next generation of racing talent.
A Proving Ground for NASCAR’s Future
Filmed at the historic Millbridge Speedway in Salisbury, North Carolina, “Kid Racers” follows five families as their 8- and 9-year-old children compete on a challenging red-clay track. Millbridge has earned a reputation as a crucial stepping stone for aspiring NASCAR drivers, with a prevailing sentiment among racers: “If you can win here, you can win anywhere.”
The documentary highlights the intense competition faced by these young drivers, who are already piloting winged Outlaw karts at speeds of 45-55 miles per hour. Adding to the stakes, several racers are the children of current NASCAR stars, including Kyle Busch, Kyle Larson, and Clint Bowyer.
Capturing the Heart of Motorsports
According to a senior official, “‘Kid Racers’ shines a light on one of the most authentic and emotionally charged corners of our sport, where passion is born, families rally together, and the next generation of NASCAR talent takes shape.” The film aims to showcase the dedication and sacrifices made by both the young racers and their families.
