Thiruvananthapuram: A patient died after a three-and-a-half-hour delay in transplanting his kidney, which was delivered from Aluva in Ernakulam district at a speed of more than 200 km in 3 hours. Heads of 2 departments of the Medical College have been suspended following the controversy over the incident. Retired ITI instructor G Sureshkumar (62) died at Kumar Bhavan in Karakonam. Police have registered a case against Suresh’s brother.

Then the hospital superintendent came and called the surgeons. After this, Suresh was brought to the theater after dialysis. It is usually done hours before the organ arrives and all the surgical arrangements are completed and the patient is taken to the theater.

‘Two outsiders took the kidney from the ambulance and ran away. It will examine how that happened and what the accompanying doctors and staff were doing. The fact that those who ran away with their kidneys did not know where the operating theater was also caused confusion.
