Quentin Tarantino‘s Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair Returns to Cinemas December 5th
A comprehensive re-edit of Quentin Tarantino’s iconic Kill Bill saga, Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, will be released in the United States on December 5th, distributed by Lionsgate. the film combines Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Kill Bill Vol. 2 into a single cinematic experience, fulfilling Tarantino’s original vision for the project.
Originally conceived as a unified narrative, the director divided the four-hour violent vengeful thriller into two volumes upon assembly due to its length. The two parts debuted six months apart,premiering in October 2003 and April 2004,respectively.
“I wrote it and directed as a single film – and I am delighted to offer fans the opportunity to see it as such,” Tarantino stated in a press release, as reported by Variety. “The best way to see Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is in a cinema, in glorious 70mm or 35mm. Blood and guts on the big screen, in all their splendor!”
This new version boasts an unprecedented 7.5-minute sequence not previously included in either volume. To create a seamless narrative, the concluding suspense from Vol. 1 and the opening summary from Vol. 2 have been removed.
Tarantino first presented The Whole bloody Affair at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008 and has since discussed the possibility of a theatrical release.He screened the revised cut at his New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles in 2011 and more recently this summer at the Vista theater, also owned by Tarantino, featuring an intermission between the two parts.
Kill Bill follows “The Bride,” portrayed by Uma Thurman, on a relentless quest for retribution against her former assassin colleagues and their leader, Bill, who left her for dead on her wedding day. The cast also includes lucy Liu, Daryl hannah, Vivica A. Fox, and the late Michael Madsen and David Carradine.
As of now, it remains unclear whether Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair will receive a release outside of the United States.
